Halo is a sci fi shooter set in the future. It's based around the covenant( aliens) wanting to destroy
the whole galaxy with their religious gigantic ring Halo. You play as the Master Cheif. A super powerful human
being or "spartan" genentically enhanced to fight.
Sound
Eli: The sound is the best sound your gonna here from the 1st generation xbox titles. The weapons
sound realistic including the covenants weapons. The weapons sound superb and the music is no different. The
music comes and goes during gameplay but it excites the gamer(myself) in wanting to get that sniper rifle and give
that alien a head shot. The voice acting is also top notch. Some of the weapons like your asault rifle can sound a little
dull but the sound is still great.
Graphics
Eli: The graphics are really good for 1st generation Xbox titles and look realistic..sort of. The
lighting is done especially great and you can see it when you look up at the sun. Shading is also nice especially when
you have to use your flashlight during the 'dark' levels. The only problem I had with the game was that the graphics
could of been better, but there still really good.
Gameplay
Eli: This is where Halo really is impressive is in its gameplay. The action in the campaign is almost
non stop and is extremely smooth and with good weapons that will be your best friend for the next hours. An
example of its superbness is during the level called 'the library' in where you have non stop enemies coming at
you all the time while you follow Guilty Spark a unique character set out to help you destroy halo. The game
also gets its excitment by the weapons the dev. have put into this game. There is the the long range weapon(sniper), medium(pistol),
and short(assault rifle) there is also a unique set of covenant weapons but i was not impressed as the UNSC weapons.
There is also a co-op mode that is perfect, and a multiplayer mode that has tons of maps that pits you up to 4 on 4 slayer(deathmatch),
or different game types. one strange game type that got me hooked was oddball. The point in this game type is to hold the
ball(skull) for.. lets say 2 min and whoever holds it for 2 min wins. There are othere game types also but i was stuck on
those two.The thing that really upset me was that the checkpoints are to far separated during the campaign, especially during
the harder difficulties like heroic and legendary. for ex. i was half way through a mission without seeing a checkpoint, i
was pretty nervous thinking if it was my Xbox or the pretty banged up disk, and then when i died i had to start all over.
This really pissed me off. Also the co-op is not as smooth as the singleplayer campaign especially when tons of enemies
on the screen. The multiplayer is pretty smooth but you'll encounter random slowdowns.
Overall
Eli: This game is awesome and should not be missed by any Xbox owner.
Eli's score:9.5
